The taste of travel, without the salty bill

If staying connected while traveling had a fair price, it would be called eSIM-Lab. The comparison is so transparent that we even show you the cheapest when it is not the best commissioned.

Among all comparison tools, eSIM-Lab displays real, dated prices normalized to price per GB. No fixed top 3: you sort, you decide, you travel.

Why us

A real comparison tool, not a disguised ranking

Editorial sites give you a fixed top 3 packed with affiliate links. We let you sort by real prices.

Real, dated prices

Each plan shows its exact price and update date. eSIM rates move fast, we own it.

Sort by price per GB

The only metric that truly matters. We normalize everything in €/GB and €/day to compare apples to apples.

Non-EU focus

In the EU your plan is enough (free roaming). We focus on destinations where an eSIM makes the difference.

Affiliate transparency

We earn commission, never by rigging the ranking. Cheapest stays cheapest.

The insight others forget

In Europe you often do not need an eSIM

Since the end of roaming charges in the EU, your French plan works in Spain, Italy or Germany at no extra cost. The value of an eSIM is elsewhere: United States, Japan, Thailand, Morocco, Turkey, Bali… That is where we focus our comparisons.

Choose wisely

eSIM, local SIM or roaming?

Three ways to stay connected abroad. Here, straight up, when each is worth it.

Carrier roaming

5 to 15 €/day

  • Zero effort, your French plan works as is.
  • Outside the EU the bill rises very fast.

Ideal for

Short trips in Europe.

Local SIM card

5 to 20 €

  • Often the cheapest once on site.
  • Queue, passport, finding the shop.

Ideal for

Long stays in a single country.

The best compromise

eSIM

2 to 30 €

  • Bought and installed before departure, active on landing.
  • Compatible and unlocked phone required.

Ideal for

Most trips outside the EU.

Where it counts

We focus on non-EU destinations where an eSIM really makes the difference.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is an eSIM, in simple terms?
An eSIM is a virtual SIM card built into your phone. No physical chip to insert, no mail order. You buy a data plan online, receive a QR code, scan it, and it is activated.
Is my phone eSIM compatible?
Most recent smartphones are: iPhone XR/XS and later, Galaxy S20 and later, Pixel 3 and later. To check, search “eSIM” or “digital SIM” in your phone settings.
eSIM or local SIM: which to choose?
In countries where local SIMs are easy to find and cheap (Thailand, Vietnam, India), a local SIM can cost less. But an eSIM avoids airport queues and language barriers, and you keep your French number active in parallel.
How many GB for a 2-week trip?
Light use (maps, messages, a few photos): 3 to 5 GB. Medium use (social media, GPS, video calls): 8 to 12 GB. Heavy use (streaming, remote work): 15 GB and more. Take a little extra, the price difference is often small.
Does the eSIM work on landing?
Yes, if you install it before departure. You arrive, turn off airplane mode, and you have network right away. Always install it from home with a good Wi-Fi connection.
Can I keep my WhatsApp number with an eSIM?
Yes. Your WhatsApp number stays linked to your French SIM, which remains active. The travel eSIM only handles data. You continue to receive messages, SMS and calls on your usual number.
